Joshua: When God Says Move

Joshua 3–4 reminds us that God often calls us to move forward before we can see exactly how He will make a way. Israel had to trust God’s presence, step into the Jordan, and watch Him do what they could never do themselves. But God didn’t want the miracle to be forgotten—He commanded them to remember and to tell the next generation about His faithfulness. The same God who made a way for Israel calls us to trust Him, follow Him, and remember what He has done.

Discussion Questions

• Have you ever been in a season where you knew God was leading you, but you had no idea how things were going to work out? What did that season teach you about trusting Him?

• What is something in your life right now where you feel like you're standing on the edge of the Jordan? What makes it difficult to take the next step?

• What usually keeps you from taking a step of faith—fear of failure, wanting more control, uncertainty, waiting for more confirmation, or something else?

• Think about a time when God made a way for you that you couldn't have made for yourself. How does remembering that experience affect the way you face what you're dealing with today?

• Why is it so easy to forget what God has done for us when we face the next difficult thing? What helps you remember His faithfulness?

• What is something you've learned about God through your own experiences that you want your children, grandchildren, or someone younger in your life to know?
