The Presence of God: Favor

In Exodus 33:12-18, we find Moses engaged in a remarkable dialogue with God and at this juncture in the Israelites' journey, Moses, acting as their intercessor, pleads with God for His continued favor and guidance.  Despite the Israelites' recent rebellion with the golden calf, Moses boldly approaches God, recognizing the importance of His favor for the journey ahead.

In response to Moses' plea, God reaffirms His favor upon Moses and the people. He assures Moses of His presence, promising to accompany them on their journey to the Promised Land. This divine favor is not contingent upon the Israelites' worthiness or merit, but rather stems from God's unwavering love and faithfulness towards His chosen people.
